The Negative Side Of Online Degrees
With the internet finding its way in to our daily lives, everything is available online today. Right from clothes and accessories to serious things like education, everything has taken an online mode. Online education has become popular due to its various advantages. However, since ever coin has two sides, it has its share of disadvantages too and you must not overlook them.

The biggest drawback of online education is that there is no direct face-to-face interaction possible with your professors. All communication is through emails. There is no one physically present to guide you and check your progress. If you have a problem, you cannot immediately get a feedback or explanation from your professor.

Secondly, your professor can't explain you lessons face-to-face as compared to the traditional classes. So, you have very limited access to your professor as well as fellow students. You are bound to miss the opportunities to hear questions and discussions raised by other students.

You have to be self-disciplined and self motivated to succeed with online education. There is no one to instruct you and so you have to take the initiative yourself. No one is there to coax you. You have to be apt in managing your time. If you are a student who is in the habit of delaying things, you may find it even more difficult to obtain an online degree. There are some online courses that have no time limit. In such a case you may keep putting off the work for days, weeks or even months. Such attitude will certainly hamper your studies and career.

The next demerit may be technical difficulties. You may find problems with computers, printers, software etc. which may delay your educational process. Online education is completely dependent on computers. You not only need to have the basic knowledge of computers but should be proficient in it.

Since online education is all about studying at home, you have another problem to face. You may get distracted by various things at home, such as- television, telephone, music system, and children among others. So, it may be a little difficult to concentrate. Also, there are several online distractions available too. While studying online you may start chatting, surfing, or playing games. Since there is no one to supervise, you are bound to defer your studies and just waste your time.

Another disadvantage of procuring online degrees is that there are employers who don't value online degrees. You cannot blame them because some online universities are nothing but fake. The only solution to this problem is that you should always find the credibility of the university before enrolling yourself in one.

So, before you decide to procure an online degree, do keep the above disadvantages in mind. Weigh the pros and cons of online degrees before you take the final call.
