You must be aware of the trend of online education that has really picked up in recent times. More and more people are enrolling with online universities, everyday. But do you know that there occurred a major conflict in Virginia Fire Department over these online degrees.
According to the policy, candidates for promotion to captain must hold at least an associate degree from an accredited institution. The policy does not specify which accrediting agencies are acceptable, though, so some firefighters obtained quick, low-budget “degrees” with little or no course work, online. Well, every coin has two sides and so is the case with online degrees, they are quick to get but a question over their validity still exists.
